SunExpress Holidays relies on the TravelSandbox® by freshcells – two product worlds, one platform

Düsseldorf, 2026 – A new digital travel platform operating under the SunExpress Holidays brand is launching on the foundation of the TravelSandbox® by freshcells. It combines traditional package tours and individually configurable trips within a unified technological architecture. freshcells implemented the platform in collaboration with its partners: Schmetterling International is responsible for the OTA offering and the service center, Bentour Reisen acts as the producing tour operator, and Nezasa powers individually configurable trips via its Dynamic Travel Packaging Solution.

Two product worlds on one platform SunExpress Holidays unites two distinct product worlds in a single booking environment. Under „Sonne und Strand“ (Sun & Beach), travelers can find traditional, pre-configured package tours from well-known operators; this inventory is supplied via Amadeus and curated by Schmetterling International on behalf of SunExpress. „Individuell & Flexibel“ (Individual & Flexible) allows customers to assemble custom itineraries, which tour operator Bentour Reisen produces as a SunExpress Holidays product and delivers via Nezasa. Both product environments operate seamlessly on the same platform and code base. For the first time with the Dynamic Travel Packaging Solution by Nezasa For SunExpress Holidays, freshcells is integrating Nezasa's Dynamic Travel Packaging Solution for the first time. Travel packages are generated based on core search criteria and can subsequently be customized, dynamically combining flights, hotels, and additional services. The Fusion and TravelSandbox® middleware aggregates all inventory sources: both Amadeus for package travel and Nezasa for flexible itineraries run through a unified integration layer. Thanks to the API-first architecture, product sources remain modular and interchangeable. Focus on Turkey and Egypt The portfolio includes SunExpress Holidays products produced by Bentour Reisen as well as offerings from third-party operators using SunExpress flights. The initial launch focuses on travel to Turkey and Egypt. The platform is available in German, English, and Turkish. Partnership of airline, sales, and technology The platform is the result of a close collaborative partnership: freshcells delivers the underlying technology via TravelSandbox®, Schmetterling International serves as the strategic sales partner for the OTA platform and customer service center, and Bentour Reisen operates as the tour operator producing the SunExpress Holidays portfolio.
